Shane Gillis’ sister, Kait Gillis, serves as the co-proprietor of Nour Coffee and holds the position of Executive Director at Brethren Lodging Association.
Known for co-hosting the Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast with comedian Matt McCucker, Gillis is a versatile performer in the realms of stand-up comedy, sketch writing, and radio broadcasting.
In 2019, Only for Snickers recognized him as one of their New Faces during the annual comedy festival in Montreal. That same year, he secured a role on NBC’s Saturday Night Live but departed amidst controversy surrounding clips from a 2018 podcast episode.
Fellow comedian Michael Longfellow also joined the SNL cast in 2022.
In 2021, Gillis released his notable comedy special on YouTube titled “Shane Gillis Live in Austin,” earning the second spot in The Chuckle Button’s top 20 comedy specials of 2021.
His collaboration with filmmaker John McKeever, known as Gilly and Keeves, adds to Gillis’ noteworthy contributions in the comedy scene.
Shane Gillis’ siblings, Kait and Sarah Gillis, grew up together in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. Unlike the comedian, they pursued different career paths and are thriving in their respective fields. The three siblings share fond memories and make time for each other, despite their busy schedules.
Kait, now President Director at Brethren Lodging Association, joined the non-profit organization in May 2020. Dedicated to providing stability for homeless families, she offers strategic guidance and oversight to the organization’s mission, vision, and programs, also managing its properties.
Kait’s professional journey includes roles at Merrill Lynch, Preferred Realty Investments, the Department of Health, Mendoza Group, and, since May 2020, the co-founding of the Gillis Hanna Group, a communications firm. She has also co-owned Nour, a cafe promoting inclusivity, since October 2022.
Sarah Gillis, on the other hand, is a Production Designer at Carnegie Mellon University, responsible for conceptualizing the visual elements for the institution.
Shane Gillis’ parents, Phil and Joan Gillis, high school sweethearts from Mechanicsburg, share a strong bond. Phil works as an Estate Manager at Crompton Sales, a representative company established in 1970. He earned his Business Administration degree from Clarion University of Pennsylvania.
Joan Gillis, a lifelong resident of Mechanicsburg, raised three children and enjoys exploring exciting places with her family.
The Gillis family, deeply rooted in Mechanicsburg for generations, reflects Shane’s upbringing alongside his two siblings. Shane, a former high school football player at Trinity Secondary School, earned a scholarship to West Point but left the institution early in his senior year.
Subsequently, he enrolled at Elon University, where he contributed a year playing for their team before ultimately graduating from West Chester University.
Furthermore, Shane spent six months in Spain working as an English teacher. His journey into comedy began in 2012 in Harrisburg.
Renowned stand-up comedians of this era include Jaron Myers, Leanne Morgan, and Mae Martin.
The 35-year-old comedian remains unmarried and currently single. He has not been romantically linked to any woman over the years and tends to keep his personal life private in interviews and podcasts.
Examining his social media posts doesn’t shed much light on his personal life either, as the majority of his content is focused on his professional endeavors.
While there are a few pictures of him with some lovely females, closer inspection reveals they are either his fans or fellow comedians.
