Former England captain Charlotte Edwards has indicated that she is unlikely to pursue the position of head coach for the national women’s team. Despite coaching Sydney Sixers in the Women’s Big Bash League, Southern Snakes in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, and Southern Brave in The Hundred, Edwards served as England’s captain for several years until 2016.
As Lisa Keightley prepares to step down as head coach after the recent series against India, Edwards was initially considered a top contender for the role. However, she has expressed that she may not be ready for the England position at this time. Before aspiring for a position in international cricket, Edwards desires to further her coaching career in the Big Bash.
At 42 years old, Edwards recently joined Sydney Sixers, and although she has not yet overseen a game, she remains a potential candidate for coaching roles in the upcoming Women’s Indian Premier League.
While Charlotte Edwards has kept her personal life private throughout her 20-year athletic career, recent coaching discussions have sparked curiosity among fans about her relationship status. It appears that Edwards is still single, as there have been no dating rumors or information about her personal life since the beginning of her professional career.
Although details about her love life are unknown, Edwards shares moments on her Instagram with her family and friends. Despite her single status, her siblings are married with children, as seen in numerous pictures on her Instagram page.
Charlotte Edwards, who concluded her international cricket career in May 2016, retired from all forms of cricket in September 2017. She made her debut as England’s youngest cricketer, breaking the international scoring record before turning 18. Edwards led the England team to victories in the Ashes series and world championships in one-day and Twenty20 formats.
After retiring from playing, she became the Director of Women’s Cricket for Hampshire in 2018. In 2020, she returned to coach the Southern Snakes, guiding them to two consecutive Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy victories. She also coaches the Southern Brave in The Hundred, and a domestic women’s Twenty20 tournament, the Charlotte Edwards Cup, was named in her honor in 2021.
Charlotte Edwards, born and raised in a farming family, shares a close bond with her older brother, Daniel. Her father, Clive, was a potato farmer and captain of Ramsey, while her mother, Yvonne, managed the tea. Tragically, Charlotte’s father passed away in 2006. Despite this loss, Charlotte continues to spend quality time with her mother, who celebrated her 73rd birthday in 2022.
Additionally, Charlotte Edwards has two nieces, Rosie and Polly, with whom she shares a special bond. Rosie is nine years old, while Polly is five, and Edwards actively engages in their activities, including cricket and horseback riding.
